Arestovich explained why Ukraine asks the West for fewer weapons than the Armed Forces need/Collage 24 channel
We can win the war against Russia when Ukraine gets enough weapons. This is even though we are asking for less than what is required.
Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President Alexei Arestovich said that we are asking the West for less weapons than we need for effective work. He explained the reasons for such actions.
The West will not be able to provide so many weapons
According to Arestovich, the Ukrainians chose this tactic because they understand that the West will not be able to provide a large number of weapons.< /p>
We always ask for a minimum of weapons. This is the great continental war. And if the Russians put up 1,200 152 mm weapons, then we need at least 500 to resist. In the meantime, everything is 1 to 10. And this is not a desire to divide NATO, to profit at someone else's expense. This is a common military necessity,” says Arestovich.
He explained that this is our need for weapons because Ukraine must survive. Nobody is asking for more. According to Arestovich, he knows exactly how requests for weapons are formed, he was present during this.
“The problem is that we ourselves reduce the amount of necessary weapons, because we understand that the West cannot provide us with them. That is, we ask for less. But we cannot ask for very little, because this is a big continental war,” Arestovich is convinced .
Western weapons for Ukraine
- Allies and partners promised our state support for a complete victory over Russia. The United States provided Ukraine with a lend-lease, according to which we will receive weapons in large quantities. In particular, the US Department of Defense commented on the delivery of the first HIMARS systems, which our Ukrainian army needs so much. The Pentagon has assured that this is just the beginning and there will be more to come. Ukrainian soldiers have almost mastered them. At the end of May, it was known that 4 such systems were being transmitted. At present, no one is naming the numbers.
- At the same time, the situation so far looks like Western weapons are being delivered to Ukraine at a slow pace and in insufficient quantities. This was confirmed by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar. According to her, now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have only 10% of the weapons that we ask the West for. The capabilities of weapons and the number of military personnel of the aggressor country significantly exceed ours. Therefore, we will not be able to win this war without Western weapons.

Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Andrusiv suggested that there might be some informal agreements or expectations between Germany and Russia.
