Ukraine is asking international partners to donate fighter jets to our state. On February 8, it became known that the UK would train our pilots.
This was stated by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during a joint press conference with Vladimir Zelensky, Channel 24 reports.< /strong>The head of our state jokingly reacted to this statement.
Ukrainian pilots will be trained
According to Sunak, our pilots will be trained on Western-style fighters. In addition, he optimistically answered the question related to the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine. The Prime Minister noted that “everything is possible” in everything that concerns the provision of our state.
It is a pleasure to announce that today we have agreed that we will expand our training program – a program that has already trained 10,000 military personnel in the last half year alone – to include naval forces and fighter pilots to ensure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the ability to defend their state in the coming generation,” Sunak stressed.
Vladimir Zelensky responded to the training of our pilots. The head of state said:“I didn't know that Typhoon training takes three years. Let's send our pilots and they will learn in 2.5 years.”
Sunak added that training our pilots is just the beginning of the process transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine from international partners. He also noted that negotiations are underway with allies on military assistance for our state.
Ukraine needs short-term assistance
Rishi Sunak emphasized this. According to him, Ukraine “can never again remain vulnerable to attack.”
We must arm Ukraine in the short term, but strengthen Ukraine in the long term. Sunak noted.
The prime minister added that the Ukrainian military, who arrived in the UK at the end of last week, are learning on Challenger 2 tanks. They are mastering British vehicles “to protect the sovereign territory of Ukraine next month.” There are a number of versions, but for one of them Russia may launch a new offensive in early spring.
Sunak also stressed that the UK “will speed up the delivery of equipment.” Thus, our state will be able to get achievements on the front line in the coming “days and weeks, not years”.
