The Institute of War spoke about the situation in the South/Collage of Channel 24
The counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the South of Ukraine was necessary to disrupt Russia's plans. In particular, we are talking about the desire to control the occupied territories in the southern direction.
The relevant information was announced by the Institute for the Study of War on May 29. That is, we are talking about data for the 95th day of a full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine.
The enemy is trying to prevent counterattacks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Kherson region and Zaporozhye
The Ukrainian counter-offensive in the northwestern Kherson region on May 29 did not lead to any confirmed advance, the Institute reported.
Also, the American Institute for the Study of War said that, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy was entrenched in the village of Kostromka Kherson region.
It should be remembered that our soldiers launched a counterattack near the borders of the Kherson and Nikolaev regions, forcing the Russian troops to go on the defensive.
Researchers believe that although this counterattack will not allow the return of significant territory in the near future, but it is likely aimed at disrupting the establishment of Russian defensive positions in the South, the ISW says.
They explained that this could slow down consolidation of infidels in the South.
Briefly about the situation in the South
