< strong _ngcontent-sc129="">Ukraine is taking active steps towards integration with Europe. An important area in this is transportation and customs.
In particular, soon Ukraine plans to open 2 new checkpoints on the western border. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal spoke about this in more detail at a government meeting.
New checkpoints on the western border will soon appear.
The Ministry of Infrastructure, the State Border Service and Customs are actively working on this. They are faced with the task of creating checkpoints in the next 6 months where roads have already been brought in or where they can be brought quickly.
What else did Shmigal say
Among Ukraine's plans integration with Europe is the signing of the Agreement on the so-called “customs visa-free” . This means Ukraine's accession to the Convention on a Joint Transit Procedure – the main document for the movement of goods between EU member states. According to Shmygal, Ukraine is already using the appropriate computerized NCTS system and is technically ready to join.
This step will significantly speed up customs clearance and speed up the flow of goods, which promises new opportunities for Ukrainian business.
Another agreement that Ukraine is preparing to sign is on the liberalization of road freight transport. They are working on this especially actively, because now there is an urgent need to maximize the possibilities of the western border, while Ukrainian ports are blocked due to a full-scale war with Russia.
The Prime Minister assured that the European Commission has already recommended to EU member states to liberalize road freight transportation with our state.
Railway modernization
Ukraine's next steps include the beginning of the construction of a European route connecting the Ukrainian railway with the European one. It will take place in several stages. First, they will organize the connection of large hubs and large cities, and then there will be a gradual expansion throughout the country.
