The Deputy Head of the Office of the President explained how Ukraine kept the price of fuel half that of Europe. In particular, this became possible due to the abolition of taxes, reduction of markups and other decisions of the government.
Deputy head of the Office of the President Rostislav Shurma made the corresponding statement. He stated this on April 22 – on the 58th day of the full-scale war that Russia launched against Ukraine.

Rostislav Shurma said: “Despite the destroyed oil depots, we were able to ensure the availability of fuel for our citizens and farmers”.
He also added that in fact this fuel is delivered from Europe or through it. It is similar to European. However, there is a significant difference in price – 40 hryvnias in Ukraine and 70 hryvnias in Europe.
We did this due to the fact that we abolished taxes and limited the markups of gas stations. We have achieved this thanks to the correct behavior of all the main gas station chains, taking into account the social need for this product,” the politician explained.
