Türkiye is working on the renewal of the grain agreement. Negotiations may take place in Istanbul

Negotiations on new proposals for the resumption of the Black Sea Grain Initiative may take place in Istanbul.

This is reported by the Turkish edition of Sabah.

It is noted that Turkey continues to try to revive the grain agreement, which proved its effectiveness by transporting almost 33 million tons of grain to world markets.

According to the publication, world leaders believe that the only person who can solve the problem through leadership diplomacy is President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

– Erdogan's meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin later this month is of global significance. Since Russia suspended the agreement, grain prices in less developed countries rose by 15%, and the war between Russia and Ukraine began to deepen, the report said.

Within a month after the termination of the grain initiative as a result of the bombing, 220 thousand tons of grain were damaged, which was enough to feed 810 thousand people for a year.

It is noted that technical negotiations between Moscow and Kiev on the activation of the grain corridor can be held in Istanbul.

Of the 33 million tons of grain that Ukraine exported to world markets during the initiative, 40% went to Europe, while 12% went to Africa and 5% to the Middle East.

Journalists report that there are proposals for a more equitable distribution of grain passing through the corridor and giving priority to poor countries.

Turkey wants the problems to be resolved and the agreement to be extended for a longer period.
