Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on November 20 that the tragedy occurred as a result of a storm at sea. There were 12 crew members on board the ship.

Ali Yerlikaya said that the ship lost contact after leaving the port in the Karadeniz Eregli district of Zonguldak. Then it crashed into a breakwater and sank.
