Turkey may buy Russian Su-57 fighters/Photo from open sources
Turkey will be forced to buy Russian Su-57 aircraft. The country is ready to make such a decision if the US Congress refuses to sell F-16 fighters.
By 2030, the Turkish military will receive TF-X aircraft of its own production. In the meantime, they need to buy them from other countries. If the US does not sell F-16 fighters, then Turkey will be forced to buy Russian Su-57s.
Turkey is worried about its airspace
Turkey is trying in every possible way to cover its airspace. country is scheduled to purchase 120 F-16 Block 70 aircraft. The final answer rests with the US Congress. He can either agree to sell fighters in the country, or not.
But it should be understood that the US excluded Turkey from the F-35 program, which involved the sale of fifth generation fighters. The reason was the purchase of the S-400 defense system in Russia. Turkey has asked the US to buy older F-16 models and upgrade kits.
If Congress rejects this request too, Turkey will be able to purchase aircraft from France or the UK. Or once again turn to Russia, but this time to get Su-57 fighters.
F-16 is the strike force of the Turkish Air Force
To date, it is not known how many of these fighter is in service in Turkey. According to preliminary estimates, we are talking about about 245 units. But the country wants to increase its “army of birds”.
As for their own fighters, they should appear in Turkey at the end of the 2020s. We are talking about TF-X and F-35 aircraft.
