Turkey is negotiating a corridor through the Bosporus for grain export
With reference to a high-ranking official, the media reported that negotiations are currently ongoing on a corridor across the Bosphorus.Turkey is negotiating with both Russia and Ukraine on grain exports from Ukraine. Since a corridor will be opened from Turkey, demand has arisen for this grain to reach target markets, the report says.
Negotiations are reportedly still ongoing and are confidential. Previously, Russian officials announced their readiness to provide a corridor for ships carrying food in exchange for the lifting of some Western sanctions.
What preceded this
The Black Sea ports of Ukraine are blocked as a result of the Russian invasion. Currently, more than 20 million tons of grain are stuck in silos.
Russia and Ukraine account for almost a third of the world's wheat supply, and the lack of exports from Ukraine could cause a global food crisis.
More two sources confirmed the fact of negotiations
The media also cites data from two more sources confirming the discussion that Turkey will help export grain from Ukraine.
One of the interlocutors stressed that, despite being a member of NATO, Turkey is viewed by Russia as a more “neutral” country than other Western members of the Alliance.
Turkey is ready to contribute to a kind of monitoring of these exports from Odessa through the Black Sea, because Turkey is traditionally very strong in the Black Sea, and they are ready to help,” the European diplomat noted.
Russia blocks Ukrainian ports: short

- In addition, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan decided to unblock grain supplies from Ukraine. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz promised to help unblock Ukrainian ports.
- Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine offers a diplomatic way to solve the blockade of Ukrainian ports. However, the military path is also being considered.
