“We're going to send more weapons. They have to be able to defend themselves,” Trump said.

According to the US President, Ukraine needs to be sent defensive weapons first and foremost, because it is suffering from very strong blows.

The U.S. administration has already been discussing how to deliver additional Patriot missiles to Ukraine following Trump's recent phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to a person familiar with the matter.

As the publication noted, during the conversation, Zelensky asked for clarification regarding the suspension of arms supplies, but Trump downplayed the significance of this statement.

The US President noted that he is still open to helping Ukraine defend itself, the source said.

Trump discussed the supply of Patriot missile systems to Ukraine late last week, including the prospect of European countries co-financing or donating their own systems, according to another source familiar with the talks.

Arms talks are expected to continue with US Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg at a conference in Rome this week.
