The pause in US aid supplies to Ukraine is temporary and is due to domestic political reasons.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin told this to Vikna-novyna host Yana Brenzei on the air of the national telethon Edinye Novosti.

The Americans are reconsidering their strategic concepts and the weapons available for them, although Ukraine is a special case due to its state of war with a nuclear power.
Klimkin explained that the decision is directly influenced by US domestic politics.
Moreover, it is important for Trump that everyone understands the personal nature of his decisions regarding arms supplies to Ukraine.
Despite the painful situation for Ukraine, the former minister expressed confidence in continued American support.
“I think that in the long term Trump will not refuse to supply weapons to Ukraine. How much there will be and what kind of weapons they will be – we will see,” Klimkin noted.
According to the diplomat, the pause in arms supplies may also be to show “who’s boss,” since it gives Trump additional leverage over Ukraine.
The former minister stressed that this situation is emotionally very painful for Ukraine, but called for not panicking and understanding the political motives of the American president.
“I have a feeling that Trump will agree to supply weapons. Whether all of them or not, he will not leave us without weapons. This is a personal story for him,” Klimkin concluded.
Let us recall that on July 2, Politico and NBC News, citing informed sources, stated that the Pentagon had announced a temporary halt to the supply of certain types of weapons to Ukraine, in particular air defense missiles.
The US said the delay would last until an internal review of the US Army's needs was completed.
If it turns out that certain types of weapons are critically needed to defend other regions, the pause could be prolonged.
