US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to sign an updated nuclear agreement with Iran. The countries already had a corresponding agreement in 2015, but in 2018 Trump withdrew the United States from the treaty.

Trump wants to start negotiations with Iran as soon as possible

Donald Trump emphasized that he wants to see Iran “a large and successful country”, but at the same time one that will not have nuclear weapons. He also denied rumors of a possible military strike on Iran jointly with Israel.

Trump expressed a desire to conclude a new agreement that would provide Iran with the opportunity for peaceful development without the threat of nuclear weapons.

He stressed that negotiations should begin as soon as possible.

Memorandum on stopping oil exports from Iran

According to The Guardian, Trump's statement came after his talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In parallel, Trump signed a memorandum that obliges the US Treasury and State Departments to take measures to stop Iranian oil exports.

In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry is considering the possibility of talks with Trump.

However, there is strong opposition within the country to any interaction with the US, despite the negative impact of sanctions on economy.
