Trump turns US foreign policy “upside down”: what behavior should Ukraine build Melania Golembyovskaya

US President Donald Trump sees arms supplies to Ukraine as a business that will bring the US a lot of money and the development of the military-industrial complex. In addition, his administration will not act through government organizations, financing aid, as the previous administration did.

Such changes have a pragmatic approach to foreign policy, to which our country must adapt. Political scientist, executive director of the International Association of Small Communities Alexey Buryachenko told 24 Channel about this, noting that Ukraine can offer the United States several beneficial options for cooperation.

How Ukraine can adapt to Trump's change in foreign policy

According to the political scientist, not a single Western publication or analyst writes that the United States may try to stop supplying military aid to Ukraine. This is beneficial for the United States due to the increase in the capabilities of its own military-industrial complex.

In addition, Europe can create its own organization similar to NATO. To do this, European countries will need to provide their own army with weapons in a short period of time, which the US has in the required quantity.

Trump's position is businesslike. He wants to spend less on ensuring Europe's security, and on the other hand, to receive more orders from Europe, which will already have more responsibility for the “security umbrella,” he noted.

What is important for Ukraine in this policy of the US President is that the arms market will grow, they will be manufactured in the States in large quantities, so partners can provide a certain part to our country.

In addition, the administration of former US President Joe Biden carried out external financing through government organizations around the world. Now Trump has suspended humanitarian aid for 90 days under the USAID program (this will not affect military support for our country).

“Such programs will be rebooted and updated according to Trump's priority positions on medicine, gender, ecology. It is likely that the aid will be transferred to direct bilateral relations with the United States,” Buryachenko said.

The political scientist noted that the US president will now pursue a pragmatic policy and focus on the country's internal issues – inflation, the fight against crime, migration policy and economic growth.

The US is thus changing its foreign policy vector, will be guided by pragmatics, therefore our policy should be adaptive, so that we offer the US something that will interest them in cooperation, he emphasized.

Common interests of the US and Ukraine may include logisticsand evenjoint mining, which could serve as a motivating factor for the deoccupation of Ukrainian territories.
