The US President did not name a specific date.
Newly elected US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin “very quickly” after he takes office next week.
Reuters reports this.
According to journalists, Trump did not name a specific date for the meeting.
“Well, there's only one strategy, and that's up to Putin, and I don't think he's thrilled with the way things have gone, because it's not exactly going well for him either. And I know he wants to meet, and I'll meet very quickly. I would have done it sooner, but… you have to be in office for some things,” Trump explained.
Recall that Donald Trump announced his intention to organize a meeting with the Kremlin dictator. According to him, Putin expressed a desire to meet.
Political scientist, political consultant, candidate of philosophical sciences Andrei Gorodnitsky said on air at “KIEV 24” that Trump will speak with Putin from a position of strength.
Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Putin is allegedly ready to meet with Trump. He also added that this requires “political will to conduct dialogue and resolve existing problems through dialogue.”
“Putin has repeatedly stated his openness to contacts with international leaders, in particular, with US President Donald Trump. The President has repeatedly spoken about this, we have repeatedly spoken about this, and no conditions are needed for this,” Peskov said.
