Donald Trump once again spoke about Canada as the 51st state. So, he believes that Canadians would live much better if they became part of the United States.

This was reported by 24 Channel with reference to CTV News.

What Trump said about Canada

During a briefing in North Carolina, Donald Trump once again reminded that he would like Canada to become the 51st state of the United States. He believes that then Canadians would live much better.

I would like Canada to become the 51st state. Canadian citizens, if this happened, would get a very big tax cut. They would have much better health care. I think the people of Canada would like it, – Trump said.

Trump also added that he would allow businesses “to come to Canada without any tariffs or taxes.”

Recall that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau believes that Trump's statements about turning Canada into 51 states are a distraction from the consequences of the introduction of tariffs. Thus, the US President plans to increase tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada and China, which could significantly increase costs for American consumers and businesses.

At the same time, Trudeau recalled how he joked with Trump about “swapping territories.” According to the Canadian prime minister, during a meeting with the president at his Mar-a-Lago residence in November 2024, he offered Trump to exchange part of Canada for one of the states – California or Vermont.
