NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has responded to a screenshot of a message released by US President Donald Trump in which he thanked NATO for decisive action in Iran and commitments from the Alliance's European allies to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP.

“I have absolutely no problem with this. There is nothing in this that should remain a secret,” the NATO Secretary General told reporters.
Mark Rutte spoke just hours after Donald Trump posted a screenshot of a private message from him while en route to the NATO summit in The Hague.
“Donald, you have brought us to a truly important moment for America, Europe and the world. You will achieve what no American president has been able to do in decades,” Rutte's message said.
In the text message, the NATO Secretary General noted that Europe will pay a high price, as it should, and this will supposedly be a victory for Trump.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization confirmed that he had indeed sent the message.
