The Israeli prime minister noted Trump's key role in helping to broker the Abraham Accords, which established formal diplomatic relations between Israel and Arab countries including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.
“These breakthroughs have transformed the Middle East and marked historic progress toward peace, security and regional stability,” Netanyahu said.
The Prime Minister said Trump's vision and bold leadership had helped develop an innovative diplomacy that was based not on conflict and extremism but on cooperation, dialogue and shared prosperity.
“Few leaders have achieved such tangible breakthroughs on the path to peace in such a short time. In these times of great historical change, I cannot imagine anyone more deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize than President Trump,” Netanyahu said.
Trump's First Nomination for Nobel Peace Prize
This is Trump's second nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in recent memory.
Earlier, the Pakistani government also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
It is worth noting that nominations for this award can be submitted by governments of countries, parliamentarians, university professors and other qualified persons.
However, the decision to award the prize is made by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
