Trump needs an interview with Putin and Carlson: Piontkovsky named the reason

Vladimir Putin gave an interview to the American propagandist Tucker Carlson. The former journalist is close to former US President Donald Trump.

Russian publicist from the USA Andrei Piontkovsky commented on 24 Channel scandalous interview. According to him, it had a specific purpose.

“I think the point of this interview is a demonstration of solidarity, closeness, political unity and common goals between Trump and Putin. <…> This is supposedly their “shake of hands” across the ocean,” noted Piontkovsky.

At the same time, Putin's interview had no effect on the Americans. Carlson has his own audience, which has long been determined, but will not be able to win new supporters.

How the interview is related Putin and the situation in Congress

The publication of the scandalous interview actually coincided with the failure of the vote for the $118 billion package in the Senate. As you know, this bill is being blocked by Trump's group of MAGA Republicans, which makes up only 15–20% of the party.

State of affairs in Congress on Thursday (February 8 – Channel 24) reached the bottom and at the same time pushed off from it, stated Piontkovsky.

So, the Democrats made a political maneuver and excluded the problematic issue of security on the border with Mexico from the bill – and the Senate voted for a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.

But there is more to come voting in the House of Representatives, where Republicans are in the majority.

US aid for Ukraine: latest news

• During February 10–11, senators had to submit amendments to the long-suffering document without the border issue. About $60 billion should be provided to Ukraine.
• Donald Trump called on the Senate not to vote for the aid package. They say that funds must be transferred exclusively in the form of loans so that “the United States does not make a fool of itself.”
• The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, said that within the next two months, the United States must accept an aid package for Ukraine. Kyiv still has enough funding for this period.
