Trump's lawyers urged the justices to overturn a December decision by the Colorado Supreme Court, which ruled that Donald Trump should be barred from running for office under the 14th Amendment, which bars people from holding public office if they have participated in rebellion after swearing to support the Constitution.

Donald Trump laid out his arguments in 59 pages of the lawsuit and they largely repeat the arguments he made in lower courts.
