Trump could “fail” with defense minister and attorney general due to sex scandals, – The Guardian Anastasia Kolesnikova

The newly elected US President Donald Trump has already begun to form his administration. The Republican has already nominated several candidates for key positions in the government. Now it has become known that he “rushed” at least two of them.

Recently, Donald Trump nominated former military man and FoxNews host Pete Hagseth for the post of Pentagon chief. The president sees Matt Gaetz as the new Attorney General. Both candidates are under threat, as they are accused of sexual harassment, writes 24 Channel with reference to The Guardian.

Trump's controversial team

It was recently revealed that police in California were investigating Pete Hegseth for allegedly sexually assaulting him in 2017. No formal charges were filed at the time. But it was enough for Trump's newly appointed campaign manager, Susie Wiles, to confront Hegseth about the case the day after he was elected. The future president's lawyers also spoke to Hegseth about it, who said “it was amicable.”

The Hegseth story has also reignited controversy surrounding Matt Gaetz, the far-right Florida congressman who is facing a two-year Justice Department investigation into sex trafficking allegations. In particular, it was said that he had sex with a 17-year-old minor.

On November 15, a lawyer for two women who were witnesses during the House Ethics Committee's investigation of Gaetz said that one of his clients told the panel that she saw the congressman having sex with a minor.

Then Republican and Democratic senators began to insist that the committee's report on Gaetz's behavior be ordered, despite the fact that the criminal investigation ended without charges being brought.

Matt Gaetz did not wait for the report to be published and resigned, because it was expected that the contents of the document could “harm him.” House Speaker Mike Johnson said he would “strongly urge” the report not to be released.

Sexual harassment scandals also affect Robert Kennedy Jr., whom Donald Trump is considering for the post of Secretary of Health and Human Services, The Guardian notes.

A former nanny of the Kennedy children accused him of harassment in 1998.

By the way, Donald Trump has been accused of similar crimes. For example, in the spring of 2023, a jury found him guilty of sexual assault and slander against the writer Carroll.
