Why Canada is returning Russian turbines to Germany/Channel 24 Collage
Canada decided to give Germany a turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This caused a great resonance in Ukrainian society.
Political scientist Mykola Davydyuk believes that the decision to give the repaired turbine is an agreement by Germany. He told Channel 24 about this.
He believes that the Germans tried to present this decision to Canada not as anti-Russian, but solely as assistance to Germany.
The political scientist is convinced that this was the main motive and call.
However, I think there's a lot more that we haven't been told. It happened the other day, when there were auctions for bread. And there were several decisions that benefited Russia, including this turbine,” Davidyuk said.
As he explained, in order for the Russians to “give the go-ahead” for the export of grain from Ukraine, they were made concessions.
There are a lot of questions for Canada now
As the political scientist added, earlier Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was a great friend of Ukraine.
“Today he is just a passive player, not helping and not supporting,” Davidyuk added.

Canada to hand over Nord Stream 1 turbine to Germany
- In order to resume the full operation of the Russian Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline, Canada decided to hand over a Siemens turbine to Germany. Berlin was very happy about this, but in Kyiv they were indignant.
- Sergei Makogon said that Canada was subjected to pressure from Russia. At the same time, Svetlana Zalishchuk, an adviser to the head of Naftogaz, noted that the Ukrainian gas transmission system can provide additional volumes of gas supplies even without this turbine.
- President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Moscow would perceive this exemption from sanctions as weakness of the West.
- The Canadian Ministry of Finance believes that the decision to give Germany a turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline is correct. Like, it is very important that the United States supported him.
