The Georgian pro-Russian party “Justice for Peace” proposed that Russia “restore strategic justice” and conclude a new “Treaty of Georgiyevsk”.

The Treaty of Georgiyevsk is an agreement that the Georgian kingdom of Kartli-Kakheti concluded with the Russian Empire in 1783. It defined the protectorate and supreme power of Moscow over Tbilisi.

According to the chairman of the party, Mikheil Zhgenti, “the direction of cooperation is being clarified.”

We see that the world is changing instantly, the geopolitical role of Russia is growing both in the world and in the region. The main essence of our appeal will be the establishment of new relations, a new agreement based on a new reality, – stated Zhgenti.

According to the party's political secretary Temur Pipia, their party is allegedly the only force that has the opportunity to talk with the Russian side about “very important” issues that “concern” Georgia. They allegedly have the opportunity to “talk to official Russia.”

Interestingly, Pipia considers the ruling Georgian Dream party, which promoted the law on “foreign agents,” to be a “much more democratic party” and “government force.”

By the way, it was previously reported that after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2023-2024, Georgia exported dual-use goods worth $10.7 million to Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Central Asia.
