Traveling abroad a man who is raising a child himself: what documents are needed

Martial law has been in place in Ukraine since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Therefore, not all men can cross the state border. But certain categories of people can still do it.

Men who independently raise one or more children under 18 have the right to travel outside Ukraine. At the same time, if a man marries a second time, then he is no longer considered a person who independently raises a child.

What documents are needed to travel abroad

The State Border Guard Service explained what a single father should have if he decided to leave Ukraine. He must have one of the following documents:

  • birth certificate of the child (children);
  • certificate of the death of the mother of the child;
  • court decision on deprivation mother's parental rights;
  • court decision to take the child away from the mother without depriving her of parental rights;
  • court decision to recognize the mother as missing;
  • court decision to declare the mother dead.

Men who make contributions to the Armed Forces of Ukraine are offered to be released abroad

People's deputies proposed to let men go abroad under a monthly guarantee fee. Ukrainians will open accounts in state banks for the amount of 5 tax-free minimums for able-bodied citizens(13,000 hryvnia) and every month replenish it with an amount equal to taxes from the minimum wage – 2697 hryvnia.

Parliamentarians also propose to take from men a written confirmation of voluntary payment of funds to a special account of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

< h3>Who else has the opportunity to travel abroad

  • Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmigal said that men who are members of the crew of sea and river vessels and work on ships, as well as students (cadets) who must undergo practical training on the ship.
  • In addition, male students who study abroad have the right to travel during the day or a dual form of education, but could not continue their studies on time due to the war, because they were in Ukraine.
  • First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy reported that from September 1, representatives of Ukrainian business will be able to travel abroad, but there are certain conditions.
