Romania and the Netherlands agreed to create a base for training Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 and the corresponding maintenance of these fighters at one of the training centers in Romania.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands Kaisa Ollongren before the start informal meeting of EU defense ministers, Ukrinform reports.
— The Netherlands and Romania signed a letter of intent yesterday to provide training and maintenance for the F-16 at a training center in Romania. This is a concrete step towards strengthening the air defense of Ukraine from two European countries, and certainly from all European countries that are members of the F-16 coalition, — she said.
Ollongren also added that it is extremely important for her country to continue to show unity and support for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.
Earlier, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine may start using F-16 fighters in the spring of 2024.
