Amnesty International's reproaches were sharply answered by adviser to the head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak, noting that the organization's statement has signs of an information operation against Ukraine. Channel 24 gives details.

Amnesty International Statement

Anesty International released a press release on 4 August stating that that the Ukrainian military is allegedly endangeringcivilian population. According to the organization, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are allegedly setting up their bases and bringing weapons and equipment to residential areas of settlements.

The pres-release notes that Amnesty came to this conclusion by analyzing Russian attacks on Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions, as well as on Donbass. The Armed Forces of Ukraine allegedly repelled the attacks of infidels from inside residential areas. The organization claims to have allegedly documented such cases in 19 towns and villages of the studied regions, including with the help of witnesses.

Thus, Amnesty International accuses the Ukrainian military of violating normsinternational humanitarian law . The organization called on the Ukrainian authorities to immediately ensure the deployment of forces away from populated areas or to evacuate the civilian population “from areas where hostilities are taking place.”

It is emphasized that this statement by Amnesty International in no way justifies Russian shelling , including strikes with internationally banned ammunition.

Podolyak's response

Mykhailo Podolyak responded to Amnesty International's statement by emphasizing that Ukraine strictly complies with all laws of warfare and international humanitarian law. The absolute priority of the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains preserving the life and health of every citizen in the face of Russian barbaric aggression.

Therefore, we are consistently taking all measures to help Ukrainians move from the zone of active hostilities to safer areas. Over the past few weeks, the Ukrainian government and top leadership have called on residents of Donbass to temporarily leave the area due to the security situation. On August 2, mandatory, but not forced evacuation began,” Podolyak emphasized.

The official noted that the state helps its citizens leave for freeto safe places, settles and provides them with everything necessary. This process continues, and in the future the Presidential Office calls for the use of the possibility of evacuation so as not to risk life.

At the same time, Podolyak stressed that this Russia adheres to the tactics of total terror and ignores all rules and laws< /strong> , trying to destroy civilian infrastructure and civilians as much as possible. There can be no justification for this, according to the adviser to the head of the OP.

You can regularly see how the Russian army shells residential areas more than 500 kilometers from the front , deliberately killing civilians and children. All Russian war crimes are recorded by both Ukrainian and international investigative teams, and will eventually have appropriate legal consequences.

Any allegations of violations by the Ukrainian army are informational operations to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine and disrupt the supply of weapons from Western partners,” Mykhailo Podolyak commented on Amnesty International’s statement.
