Russian volunteers flee Ukraine after the first battle/ArmyInform
After the failure of the military campaign to seize the major cities of Ukraine and the announcement by Russia of a set of people who want to fight, groups of Russian volunteers-veterans of hostilities began to arrive in the Donbass and Kharkiv region. Most of them were tempted by high salaries and the opportunity to sign short-term contracts.
According to Channel 24 sources in the Ukrainian special services, the ideological invaders with combat experience expected that they would be able to quickly return home and earn a lot of money. The mercenaries believed that the war for the occupation of the entire Donbass and Lugansk region would not be difficult, and the temptation to simultaneously engage in looting was decisive for many.
Russian generals believed that by joining the war experienced veterans of the Afghan, Chechen and other wars, they will be able to quickly muster enough personnel to achieve the victories Putin needs.
The first battle decided everything
- The Russian volunteers, who came to the military registration and enlistment offices in March and April, were sent by the invaders to one brigade, which was completely defeated at the time of their arrival.
- Due to the replenishment, the generals were able to restore the strength of the brigade by almost half of the staff – up to 1400 people.
- Since the unit created from scratch did not consist of conscripts at all, but of wise veterans, the invaders decided to use it as the main fist of attacking the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Luhansk region.
- The generals believed that with the efforts of the two created fighters of the brigade of battalion tactical groups, they would be able to break through the defenses of the defenders of Ukraine and get closer to the encirclement of the position of our troops.
- However, it did not happen for the Russians. As soon as the artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine tore apart the mobilized, after a dense attack by Russian aircraft with the forces of two BTGs, the invaders went on the offensive, received a crushing blow and were forced to retreat.
- Frontal attacks continued in this direction for several days, after which only 360 people remained from the brigade. All the rest were killed or injured.
This approach of the command and the successful work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine forced all the volunteers who could survive to sober up. Mercenaries after almost the first battle in this war soon decided to return home. Putin's Horde decided to put the command before the fact, they say, the contracts can be considered invalid, and they agree to flee the Donbass at their own expense and get to their outbacks.
Of course, the staff colonels were somewhat dissatisfied with such a statement, especially since such precedents could be dangerous for the entire not very motivated army. Therefore, the volunteers were directly noted that they did not have the right to flee, and desertion would be punished in accordance with the criminal code of Russia, however, the invaders were allowed to retreat to the second line and rest for a day.
Negotiations with staff officers were carried out only by a few volunteers, and they took place under the supervision of a firing squad of Kadyrovites. It was this fact that determined the fate of the remnants of the defeated detachment.
The mercenaries returned to the unit's deployment point and told their comrades in arms that no one could actually escape from the battlefield. This almost led to a riot and conflict between the “Vanki” themselves, but everyone rejoiced at the opportunity to stay in a relatively safe place a few kilometers from the front.
About 50 volunteers are hiding in Russia with weapons
Once in one of the front-line cities, Russian volunteers immediately began to look for vodka and literally a few hours later were in an unconscious state. Interestingly, large-scale drinking led to the fact that three out of 350 died. Two more were slaughtered by their own during a drunken conflict.
On the day when the remnants of two BTGs were supposed to return to the front line, only three arrived at the scene. Because of the disappearance of the volunteers, a whole company of regular Russian military personnel was sent to the village where they rested. The search party found almost 270 people who sat in different places and continued to drink. Drunk volunteers were detained and sent to the front line.
About 50 men mysteriously disappeared. They managed to escape from the frontline zone and cross the border between the quasi-republics and Russia, giving bribes to the FSB officers. Volunteers deserted with weapons, so they should be caught on the territory of the aggressor country with diligence. After all, no one knows what a few dozen people are capable of who agreed to kill people for money and went through the hell of war.
