Ukraine needs medium-range missiles. It is they who can change the course of the war against Russia. First of all, on the Black Sea.
Russia was able to block Ukrainian ports on the Black and Azov Seas. She managed to do this thanks to the abundance of warships, as well as the mines that she put up along the sea routes.
Ukrainian ports were blocked, and with it the ability to export products from Ukraine. First of all, grain. We are talking about last year's harvest. And therefore, problems with food may come in the world, and hence a humanitarian crisis, because Ukrainian grain was bought by many countries. Now there is no such possibility.
This is also understood in the West, so they are looking for a solution to this problem. Among the proposals is even to remove part of the sanctions from Belarus in exchange for the country allowing the transit of Ukrainian grain to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.
But there is another option that can not only resolve the situation with the unblocking of Ukrainian ports, but also influence the war. We are talking about providing Ukraine with medium-range missiles (300-500 kilometers), which would allow destroying naval targets.
“Everyone understood that it would be impossible to negotiate with the Russians. The issue of the food crisis became so acute that they really began to consider the option of providing Ukraine with such weapons that would defeat and bury the Russian fleet and we would be able to export grain,” said Viktor Andrusov, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs.
It is the absence of medium-range missiles that allows the Russians to block the port of Odessa, realizing that they will not be able to capture Odessa. If Ukraine receives appropriate weapons, the situation may change dramatically.
“The next two weeks, the de-blockade of the Black Sea will be key. For us, it changes not only the situation in the Black Sea, but in principle changes the theater of operations. Getting missiles 300-500 kilometers away is a terrible threat for the Russians, they did not prepare for this,” Viktor Andrusov is convinced.
What missiles can Ukraine get
The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly turned to Western partners to provide modern weapons. In addition to heavy artillery, armored vehicles, air defense systems and combat aircraft, it was also about the M142 HIMARS. This is an American rocket artillery system. This is a versatile launcher that can use a whole range of missile weapons. Among them are ballistic missiles of the ATACMS series, which can hit targets at a distance of up to 300 kilometers.
Or the M270. This is also a launcher, but unlike the M142, it can accommodate two ATACMS missiles.
How this will change the theater of operations
If Ukraine receives the appropriate weapons, it will be able to destroy enemy ships in Chorny sea, as well as all other military targets on the territory of Russia. First of all, airfields and places where the Russian army is based.
As for the Black Sea, the Russians have problems there after the destruction of the Moskva cruiser. It was this ship that was responsible for the anti-missile defense of the maritime group of infidels in this region. For this, he was equipped with the necessary radars and weapons. But Ukrainian missiles “Neptune” were able to flood it.
