To meet Christmas with light: power engineers turned to Ukrainians

Thanks to the efforts of power engineers, Ukrainians met the New Year holidays without power outages. This was also due to warm weather and a significant reduction in electricity consumption by industry. However, Christmas is ahead.

And power engineers make every effort to ensure that stabilization shutdowns occur as little as possible and at scheduled intervals.

However, worsening weather conditions and a significant cooling are expected in Ukraine now. Power engineers explained that because of this, electricity consumption may increase.

Indeed, in order to maintain a comfortable temperature in their homes, consumers can turn on heating appliances and powerful household appliances at the same time. This increases the load on the power grid, which can lead to accidents and power outages,” DTEK noted.

How to support our energy system

Power engineers are asked to treat electricity consumption as responsibly as possible in order to help the energy system.

Important advice! After the light appeared according to the schedule, electrical appliances must be turned on one by one. This will help to avoid accidents due to electrical overload and keep the light in your and neighboring house.

For their part, the country's power engineers are doing everything possible to eliminate any damage to the power grid as quickly as possible, as soon as possible to return light to the homes of Ukrainians.

The government warned of possible emergency blackouts

  • Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal at a government meeting on January 6 said that since January 5, electricity consumption has increased. Therefore, planned shutdown schedules have been introduced in the central and eastern regions and Odessa, Lvov, Dnipro.
  • As Shmihal explained, with a decrease in air temperature, consumption is expected to increase and, accordingly, the deficit in the energy system will increase. In addition, the enemy can continue to beat on civilian and energy infrastructure. Therefore, Ukrainians must be prepared for emergency shutdowns.
