Russians in the Belgorod region are trying to cash in on the situation with housing damaged by the explosions. In particular, the governor of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that in this way people just want to make a new repair for themselves.
He added that assistance to victims of shelling will depend on their income level.
The Russian official explained this decision by the fact that among the inhabitants of the region there are those who decided to take advantage of the currentsituation in order to make repairs.
We are considering the issue of property, but we will consider it depending on the income of the tenants. Already now we see that, unfortunately, someone is beginning to perceive this situation as an opportunity to make repairs at the expense of other sources: they begin to break tiles, break windows,” Gladkov said.
The governor noted that assistance would be provided to people who find themselves in a “difficult life situation.” But he will not be able to help those who have “huge houses with huge swimming pools in restoring the pool.”
