Explosions occurred at three warehouses of pyrotechnics near the town of Elin Pelin in the Sofia region of Bulgaria. The authorities had to evacuate people living in the outskirts of the city.

There is no information on air quality yet. However, residents of the region were advised to close their windows.

There are casualties as a result of explosions at fireworks warehouses

The incident occurred on the evening of July 25. A state of emergency was declared in the city. People living near the warehouses engulfed in flames had to be evacuated.

Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev clarified that military equipment is waiting to arrive at the site to evacuate the wounded. Due to the continuous explosions, firefighters and medics cannot enter the warehouses.

Rescuers managed to extract only two victims. They suffered severe burns and were taken to the hospital.

It is unclear whether there are more people inside. According to unconfirmed information, there could have been one or two people there.

The pyrotechnic warehouses belong to the Enigma Ltd. company. According to preliminary data from the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the warehouses contained two tons of TNT equivalent. However, the number of ready-made fireworks that exploded is not named.
