The Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny spoke at the RUSI Land Warfare Conference 2024 in London. The event discussed critical security issues, particularly the challenges posed by Russian aggression and the need to be prepared to counter them in the future.

O what Zaluzhny said, the main statements of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Britain, read in the material of Channel 24.

The main thing from Zaluzhny's first speech as an ambassador

“First of all, wars must be avoided! But if war does come, you must be ready for it,” said Zaluzhny.

We must prepare for war – not only in purely military aspects, but also in all spheres of state activity . Society's readiness must be based on “honest and transparent” communication between the authorities and the people.

According to Zaluzhny, to survive in war, society must agree to temporarily give up a number of freedoms. He noted that “readiness for war will be determined not only by the army’s readiness to repel aggression, but also by the readiness of society to confront the enemy.”

In addition, in his opinion, war cannot be considered as part of an internal political process, and its use for one’s own purposes and for the sake of one’s own interests is a crime, the consequence of which is huge casualties.

“War is the maximum concentration of forces for survival. And only for this!”, says Zaluzhny.

War is a science< /strong>. Science with its own laws and rules that need to be known and studied.

The war with Russia, which began in 2014, “absolutely different” from the full-scale invasion that began on February 24, 2022. Based on 2014 concepts quickly depleted Ukrainian forces in May 2022.

The main problem, he said, was new forms of application of the latest technologies. Zaluzhny is convinced that the invention of new methods of application would logically lead to changes in the structure of the army as a whole.

“Today we have already invented a way to fight and defeat the strongest armies of the 21st century. Obviously, that technology must ensure the stability of the Ukrainian nation,” said Zaluzhny. -Ukrainian war is a war of transitional period”>Russian-Ukrainian war is a “war of transitional period”

At the same time, he noted that the Russian-Ukrainian war is “not yet a war of the future”, it is a “war of the transitional period”.

“But it is our war that forms new rules. We, Ukrainians, with our blood and thirst for victory, form new models of a new war. A war that will become the war of the future,” the politician said.

Moreover, Zaluzhny believes, technology will become the basis of future global security.

“In fact a new stage has begun in the forms and methods of military action< /strong>. We see how scientific and technological progress set the wheel of history in motion and brought to the battlefield technologies that will most likely become decisive in this war and, most importantly, will become the basis global security of the future. Who will master these technologies faster – a democratic world or a world of tyranny, will depend on us,” Zaluzhny said.

At the same time, he is convinced that today, for various reasons, neither Ukraine nor Russia will be able to independently master technology in the near future. This means that the only way out may be to increase the number of human resources.

According to Zaluzhny, whoever masters technology will solve global security issues. It is difficult to say how the situation will develop in the future.

According to him, only one thing is certain – tyrants will constantly need war for internal use as tool for maintaining power. The rest must build reliable protection against them.

“Today, more than ever, it is in Ukraine that they find ways to survive and create technologies. But for obvious reasons, they cannot scale. With on the other hand, our partners have resources, but do not have the applied and practical field to test them. Only together we can effectively use the resource…” said Zaluzhny.
