Ukrainian national team player Alexander Zinchenko called the decisive game against Italy in the Euro 2024 qualification “the match of our lives.”
He spoke to the British publication Evening Standard about his motivation before the match against the Azzurra squad, which will take place in Leverkusen on November 20.
– It will be a big game. Of course, this will be the match of our lives. Especially now, in the most difficult time of our country’s independence. Bringing some positive news for the Ukrainian people is so important. Playing at the Euro is already an incredible achievement, especially now,” said Zinchenko.
He added that wearing the Ukrainian national team jersey is the greatest pride.

Answering the question whether it is difficult to play football knowing what is happening in Ukraine, Zinchenko replied:
“It’s difficult for people who remain on the front line and give their lives for our independence, for our people. So which path is more difficult? That’s the answer,” Zinchenko emphasized.
