American media, citing an unnamed White House official, wrote that the United States has been helped the Ukrainian army to prepare for a counter-offensive in the South, providing certain weapons.
It is not worth dividing weapons into offensive and defensive ones
However, the list of weapons and equipment provided for counter-offensive operations differs slightly from the list of weapons that we received for defense. This is for Channel 24 said military expert Yuri Fedorov.
According to him, it is really not worth dividing weapons into purely offensive and purely defensive ones. In fact, any weapon and equipment, including Javelins and artillery, which the representative of the White House spoke about, can be used both in defense and in the offensive.
For example, HIMARS and cannon artillery destroy offensive force of the enemy or objects in his operational rear. But for the offensive, they act identically – they eliminate the offensive targets of the enemy, offensive armored vehicles and what is located somewhere in the rear.
So are all kinds of drones. For example, reconnaissance drones allow the commander to see what is happening in a particular sector. Through this information, he can orient, command his subordinates and send them to important directions and points. Such actions are carried out both during the defense and during the offensive.
In general, as I understand it, American officials did not swindle, saying that they were preparing the Armed Forces of Ukraine for offensive operations,” says Fedorov.
After all, the weapons that Ukraine received from the United States are really needed for a counteroffensive. We are talking about the same HIMARS, cannon artillery, counter-battery radars, various drones, and so on.
