Meanwhile, the aggressor country is still a member of the United Nations Security Council.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya, on the air of the unified news telethon, explained why the Security Council is not ready to exclude Russia from its membership . Channel 24 broadcasts the details.

Why Russia is still a permanent member of the UN Security Council

After the collapse of the USSR, Russia actually occupied the seat of the Soviet Union in the UN Security Council. Sergey Kislitsa said that for all these more than 30 years the world has turned a blind eye to the representation of the aggressor country in the Security Council exclusively for one reason.

The nuclear issue and the fact that Russia has nuclear weapons is the only reason why the world turned a blind eye to Russia's actions for these 30 years. This is the reason why neither London, nor Washington, nor Paris, as permanent members of the Security Council, are ready to talk about the exclusion of the aggressor country from the Security Council,” Kislitsa assured.

The diplomat stressed that the fact that that a terrorist country has a nuclear arsenal is a really complex topic. That is why no country in the world can afford to be irresponsible about Russian threats.

Another question is whether Putin, who makes the decision in this Russian system, is ready to commit suicide. After all, the use of nuclear weapons, even tactical ones, would be suicidal. I belong to the circle of those people who believe that he will not do this, because his image of a “strong man” is not true, and he is really a very weak person who cannot commit suicide, – said the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN.

By the way, Sergei Kislitsa added that Russia's nuclear arsenal is indeed the main argument why he is still a member of the United Nations Security Council. After all, according to the diplomat, the aggressor country has neither economic nor military power, which the Ukrainian army has effectively proved.

Kyslitsa gave the example of Canada, which is also a large country and has a lot natural resources, but is not a permanent member of the UN Security Council. This, according to the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, is only because Canada does not have nuclear weapons.
