This is Putin’s style, – Piontkovsky explained why the dictator replaced Shoigu’s position

Vladimir Putin has begun major personnel changes in Russia. He fired Sergei Shoigu from his post as head of the Ministry of Defense. Strangely, he was appointed to another position – Secretary of the Russian Security Council. What hidden plans the Kremlin dictator has is still unknown.

Russian publicist from the United States of America Andrei Piontkovsky told 24 Channel that Putin’s actions largely echo the policies of Joseph Stalin. He noted that he also, before getting rid of a politician he didn’t need, appointed him to some other position, as Putin did with Shoigu.

Putin's tricks

As soon as Putin once again took the post of “president” of Russia, he immediately began to change the leadership in Russia. Perhaps the dictator is afraid of rebellion or disobedience, so he tries by any means to keep power only in his own hands.

This is Putin's style. He is gradually bringing (Shoigu – Channel 24) to the “execution wall”, using the position to which he appointed him. It’s calmer and safer,” Piontkovsky said.

He noted that Shoigu would not have any influence in this position, which is why he got it. Before him, the Secretary of the Russian Security Council was Nikolai Patrushev, who skillfully used his powers, but Putin fired him after 16 years of service.

Personnel changes in Russia: main

  • On May 12, personnel changes took place in the Kremlin . It is said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has decided to replace the head of the Ministry of Defense. This no longer surprises anyone, given the dictator’s decision to reshuffle the Russian government. This comes immediately after Putin's “victory” in the Russian presidential election.
  • Vladimir Putin has decided to replace Sergei Shoigu with a new candidate for the position of Russian Defense Minister, in one of the largest reshuffles over the past decades. According to The Times journalists, the main reason for Shoigu's resignation was the Kremlin's need for a responsible manager in the Ministry of Defense. These personnel changes in Russia will have a direct impact on the war against Ukraine.
  • Personnel reorganizations in key positions in Russia may indicate readiness for a long war against Ukraine. According to a May 12 report from the Institute for the Study of War, Putin appointed Andrei Belousov as Russia's defense minister, replacing Sergei Shoigu, who has now moved to the post of secretary of the security council.
