This is not an advantage, but a problem, – Kovalenko explained the consequences of the Russian "referendums"

The Russians hastily began holding their pseudo-referenda in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. They want to declare these lands Russian, but this imitation of the will will not significantly affect anything.

Pseudo-referendums threaten Russia more than us

This Channel 24 was told by the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko. He stressed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will liberate these territories, regardless of whether any “referendums” were held there, held or not.

According to Kovalenko, these pseudo-referendums have no legal force, and this is well understood by absolutely everyone. They do not comply with either the Law of Ukraine, or any international standards, or, most interestingly, Russian legislation.

Therefore, to say that for Russia this is some global, large-scale, strategic advantage – no, not at all. This is even more of a problem, the observer believes.

Consequently, “referendums” for a terrorist state are economic problems due to increased sanctions and the continuation of the difficult situation in the war zone, because nothing will help them.

“For example, they will hold this “referendum” somewhere, they will declare that 146 percent of the local population voted to join Russia, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will liberate these territories. How will Russia react? will use “, – stated Kovalenko.

It is difficult to frighten Ukraine by the fact that the Russians will bring in some more troops, and, according to the observer, the occupiers will not dare to declare war, because they are cowards. Indeed, with the declaration of war on Ukraine, Russia may lose leverage on such an important platform for it as the UN Security Council. It can be deprived of the right to veto and the right to vote.

“Referendums” are important only for propaganda

Kovalenko suggested that in the medium or long term pseudo-referenda can be considered as elements of an information-psychological special operation, of which there have been a lot over the past hundreds of years.

That is, in the future, the Russians will be able to use the fact of “146 percent support” of the local residents of the occupied territories to emphasize that people live there who wanted to join Russia, and we should not forget about them.

“They also can use these referendums to tell the future electorate, because of some future politician who will not be different from Putin, that there is something to win in Ukraine, there are ours (i.e. “Russians” – 24 channel) territory” “, added the browser.

These “referendums”, according to Kovalenko, do not threaten Ukraine with anything else. Indeed, in the seventh month of a full-scale war, it already became clear that Russia no longer had any levers of influence, it showed everything it was capable of.

That is why this channel) we look rather superficially, because we understand that we can no longer expect any sharp, really unexpected reaction from Russia. – summed up Kovalenko.

How the Russians are forced to “vote” in the “referenda”

It is clear that few residents of the occupied territories wanted to voluntarily go to the “referendum”. However, the Russians need at least some statistics, so they force the Ukrainians to “vote” for joining Russia.

To do this, the armed occupiers bypass houses and apartments, and control that people choose the answer they need. Locals fear that for refusing to “vote” or giving a negative answer, they could be imprisoned, tortured or even killed.
