The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested in absentia the head of the Odessa OVA and the former commander of the Ukrainian Aidar battalion Maxim Marchenko. The official reacted to this news as a joke and stressed that Ukraine still “makes nerves” for Russia.
Maxim Marchenko called the decision of the Russian court on his arrest “childish attempts to scare , which cause only laughter”.
He assured that he didn't understand why they were looking for him, because he never disappeared.
Come and try to arrest . But I warn you – I will defend myself, – Maxim Marchenko said.
The official believes that such attention from the infidels means that the Ukrainians are working efficiently and making the Russians nervous. “It's enough to disgrace yourself even more, your “second army” has already disgraced the whole world,” Marchenko replied.
The head of the Odesa District Military District added that everything is calm in the region so far, there were no shelling that day.

Let's add that in 2015-2017 Maxim Marchenko was commander of the 24th separate assault battalion “Aidar”. Subsequently, in 2017, he was appointed to the post of deputy commander of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade, where he stayed for a short time, because a year later he headed another brigade.
He took a direct part in the hostilities in eastern Ukraine. On March 1, 2022, he was appointed chairman of the Odessa Regional State Administration.
Why Russia arrested Maxim Marchenko in absentia
- The head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, Maxim Marchenko, is allegedly accused of using “prohibited means and methods of warfare.” This is stated in the press service of the court.
- The court chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention for a period of two months from the moment of his detention or extradition to the territory of Russia.
- This information was commented by the representative of the Odessa Regional Military Administration Sergey Bratchuk. “I have never expected the evening address of the head of the Odesa OVA Maxim Marchenko as much as today!” he joked.
- The head of the Odesa OVA himself at first reacted to such news with an ironic joke. “Tell them that when I'm not there, they can even beat me,” Marchenko wrote on the social network.
By the way, as reported in the Basmanny Court, a similar measure suppression on the same charges elected against Sergei Baranov – the commander of the 44th separate artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Previously, he was awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnytsky III degree for personal courage and heroism shown in the defense of Ukraine.
