The other day, explosions thundered at the Belarusian airfield Machulishchi, as a result of which a Russian reconnaissance aircraft A-50 was damaged. But this is good news for Ukraine and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
So in the telethon “United News” said the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat. According to him, this aircraft conducts radar reconnaissance, tracks Ukrainian aviation and detects how Ukrainian air defense systems work. At the same time, Belarusian activists are convinced that drones were involved before the explosions in Machulishchi.
“For Ukraine, for the Air Force, this is good news. It constantly accompanies attacks with cruise missiles, if the enemy strikes, the A-50 also takes to the air,” he said.
A-50 is a long-range radar tracking and control aircraft (DRLS).
However, damage to the aircraft will not affect the attacks of the occupiers with missiles or “Shaheds”, because the Russians have about 9 such aircraft.

At the same time, in a comment to Channel 24 , Yuri Ignat noted that he could not officially confirm that this plane would never take off again.

Yuri Ignat noted that such an aircraft is unique and has specific equipment . It was created on the basis of the IL-76 aircraft, which is also in service with the Ukrainian Air Force.
“Radar, an antenna, with which they scan, in fact, the entire territory of the country, plus on-board equipment that helps, in fact, analyze information and transmit it to the appropriate command posts,” said the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He noted that such an aircraft can serve as a command post and, in fact, it is possible to control the battle from it.
Attack on the airfield in Machulishchi: what is known
