Belarusian journalist Franak Vyachorka spoke about this on the air of Channel 24. As long as the self-proclaimed president is in power, there will always be a risk for Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania, because he is a puppet of Vladimir Putin.
Why the surprise check began
According to Vyachorka, this is an attempt to pull back Ukrainian forces on the northern border so that they would not be able to defend the territory in the East, where Russia has concentrated its troops. Another reason is the desire to keep the defense forces of Poland and Lithuania in tension.Why are these exercises needed now? I think this is a provocation,” the journalist said.
At the same time, Lukashenka's rhetoric has become very aggressive. Now he says every day that Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania are preparing almost a “military coup” in Belarus and therefore it is necessary to strengthen the defense forces – both the armed forces and the internal defense forces from the Belarusian partisans.
Can Belarus join the war in Ukraine
According to Vyachorka, Belarusian society opposes Russian aggression in Ukraine. There is strong opposition to Lukashenka's actions there. He lost fans even among his officials.
Perhaps there are some other Soviet-style military men and they like the behavior of Lukashenka, who kisses and hugs Putin. But everyone who is younger understands the value of Belarusian independence and the importance of friendly relations with Ukraine,” the journalist noted.
