A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, political scientist Kirill Sazonov told 24 Channel about this, noting that the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine is always good news. Mirage 2000-5 fighters can be used both at the front and in the rear.

How Ukraine uses French aircraft

As Sazonov noted, Russia regularly strikes Ukrainian energy with missiles. French fighters can become an element of the air defense system against enemy cruise missiles. Our defenders are already working like this on American F-16 fighters.

In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces will be able to use French fighters to strike Russian territory. It is known that the Mirage 2000-5 is a carrier of Storm Shadow cruise missiles.

Fighters are extremely important. All NATO doctrines work according to the same scenario. First, there is an air strike on the enemy's air bases and air defense. This is how they gain air dominance. Then a strike on ground targets. And only then does the offensive on the ground begin, Sazonov explained.

Let us add that French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said on Sud Radio that Ukrainian pilots and mechanics completed training on the Mirage 2000-5 at the end of 2024. The aircraft could be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
