From September 17, a ban on the entry of cars of Russian origin will begin in Poland. A sign of this is the registration of a vehicle in a terrorist country.

It should be noted that in addition to the ban on crossing the border in their own car, citizens of the aggressor country cannot transport some personal belongings. This will be regarded as a prohibited import.

New Polish restrictions

As of September 17, Poland will prohibit the purchase, import or export to the EU of cars originating from Russia. This applies to cars, trucks and racing vehicles registered in the aggressor country. The ban applies to vehicles designed primarily to transport 10 people.

Vehicles with Russian license plates will be turned back right at the border. This will happen regardless of whether the car arrives from Russia or from another country. The ban applies even to foreigners driving a car with Russian registration.

The reason for the decision is the tightening of sanctions in accordance with EU Council Regulation No. 833/2014 of July 31, 2014. It concerns restrictive measures in connection with Russian actions destabilizing the situation in Ukraine.

Poland was not the first to introduce a ban

Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia the day before They also banned the entry of cars with Russian license plates. The corresponding sanctions came into effect on September 12–13. The countries made this decision on the recommendation of the European Union.

The Estonian authorities said that if a Russian arrives at the border checkpoint with a car registered in the aggressor country, he must either return back or leave the car and cross the border on foot.

As a country bordering Russia, it is important for Estonia to implement such restrictions together with its neighbors. When used together, restrictions are more effective and this makes it possible to raise the cost of aggression for Russia even higher. – noted the head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry.

Cars with Russian license plates that are already in Estonia can freely leave the country. The question of what to do with the vehicles already in the country will be decided.
