On New Year's Eve, 140 Ukrainians were released from Russian captivity. Among them, the defenders of Mariupol and Zmiiny Island were also wounded.
Thus, 140 Ukrainians will celebrate the New Year and Christmas holidays at home. This was announced by Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets.
Who was returned home
Wounded fighters were released from captivity, as well as the defenders of Mariupol, Snake Island, volunteers Tro from Slavutych. In particular, parents and sons who were held captive together, as well as fighters from the Bakhmut direction. In total, these are 132 men and 8 women, 22 officers and 118 sergeants and soldiers.
Returned home:
- 82 – fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ,
- 15 – from TRO,
- 22 – from Novosibirsk State University,
- 11 – from the Navy,
- 10 – from GNSU.< /li>
Representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Andrey Yusov on the air of the telethon said that the defenders of the ZNPP were also returned.

All those dismissed will receive medical assistance, undergo rehabilitation, and be able to restore bank cards and documents.
The coordinating headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war continues its work. Lubinets stressed that the authorities will continue to do everything to return every prisoner to their homeland.
