Two military contractors tried to sell “captured” Russian weapons obtained in battle to criminals. They were detained by the Security Service of Ukraine.

The channel for the illegal sale of weapons and ammunition was eliminated in the front-line territory of the Donetsk region.

Two contract soldiers from one of the military units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were detained. These servicemen were sent to the Donetsk region.
“Two defendants wanted to secretly sell an arsenal of “trophy” weapons of the invaders, which were obtained by Ukrainian defenders in fierce battles near Bakhmut,” the SBU clarified.
The “clients” were supposed to be representatives of the Dnepropetrovsk criminal community.
SBU officers detained both contract soldiers while attempting to sell seven Kalashnikov assault rifles, including the new AK-12.
In addition, during the searches, more than 60 machine guns and machine guns, as well as Russian-made anti-tank grenade launchers, were confiscated from them.

To illegally store ammunition and weapons, the defendants set up a hiding place on the territory of a private household.
What threatens detained businessmen?
Both detainees were informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 28, part 1 art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
Part one art. 263 provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 7 years.
The issue of choosing a preventive measure for detained contract soldiers is being resolved.
