The EU will soon discuss a new package of sanctions against Russia/Channel 24 collage
Sanctions pressure against Russia continues to intensify. Soon, the aggressor state may be stirred up by a new package of restrictions designed to continue to weaken it.
This was told by journalist Rikard Yuzwiak. He noted that they are talking about the next package of sanctions. But he is not sure that it will be the seventh, and not an addition to the sixth.
The new package of sanctions will be discussed in the near future
According to Yuzwiak, consultations with EU member states should start this week. During them, the strengthening of sanctions against Russia will be discussed.
But the journalist is not sure that they are talking about the seventh package. Rather, he is convinced that senior officials will discuss the loopholes that the previous one contained, and also complete the list of names that fall under the restrictions.
At the same time, the chapter Office of the President Andriy Yermak spoke about the fate of the seventh package of sanctions against Russia. He noted that they are currently working on the document. And it must continue to hit the economy of the aggressor country.
They may impose a gas embargo
The head of the Presidential Office stressed that Poland is in favor of including the gas embargo in the new package of sanctions against Russia. According to Andriy Yermak, our state has offered to take such a step. And there are a number of good reasons for this. But the most important thing is that the Kremlin will have nothing else to blackmail the West with.
The gas embargo is the strongest response to any Kremlin energy blackmail. The Western world must demonstrate that it will no longer depend on Russian energy resources, Yermak emphasized.
A considerable scandal erupted the day before. And it is connected with the fact that Canada agreed to transfer to Germany the repaired Siemens turbine for Nord Stream. Note that it is necessary for the Russian gas pipeline to resume its full-fledged operation.
Concessions can have negative consequences
They say that they are forced to take such a step so as not to leave Germany without blue fuel for the winter. Ukraine reacted sharply to this situation. Volodymyr Zelenskyy focused on exceptions. He stressed that if Russia managed to achieve concessions on the turbine sanctions issues, then what can be expected next?
The President stressed that such steps threaten not only our state, but the whole world.
strong> It is possible that representatives of EU member states will meet for this very purpose. During the consultations, they will discuss mechanisms to minimize sanctions circumvention.
