Belarus/focus.ua =””>The Belarusian authorities want to close travel abroad for some categories of people who have already registered the relevant bill. Experts believe that this is done so that Belarusians are afraid and do not resist.

This was told to Channel 24 by the Belarusian oppositionist, ex-Minister of Culture of Belarus Pavel Latushko. He noted that this concerns the continuation of repressions of the Belarusian society.

According to him, in this way they want to “tie” Belarusians to Belarus.

So that if the Belarusians commit administrative or criminal actions, they would be afraid, because then they would not have the opportunity to leave Belarus. – said the oppositionist.

He says that the practice of restricting travel outside Belarus was before.

“When I worked as an ambassador, one of the employees of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, because he wanted to quit, imposed restrictions on traveling outside the country for 5 years, supposedly because of access to state secrets,” said Latushko.

In his opinion, expanding the list of persons who will not be allowed to leave Belarus is aimed at trying to influence the possible active actions of Belarus in resistance to the Lukashenka regime.

As for the rights of citizens, this is a violation of the constitution, but what kind of constitution can we talk about in Belarus? There is probably not a single article that the Lukashenka regime has not violated,” Latushko replied.

Latushko on the situation in Belarus and the threat of an attack on Ukraine:

Whom Belarus wants to ban from leaving the country

Among those who will not be allowed to leave the country country, turned out to be people:

  • whose departure is contrary to the interests of the national security of Belarus,
  • political persons, in relation to who started the administrative process,
  • siloviki.

They also imposed restrictions on flights over Minsk, Brest and the south of the Minsk region from July 11 .

By the way, the Institute for the Study of War reported that Belarus most likely will not take a direct part in the war against Ukraine. However, the state will continue to help Russia kill Ukrainians.
