Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the possibility of supplying additional IRIS-T air defense systems at a meeting today with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

Thus, the head of state thanked the Chancellor and the people of Germany for supporting Ukrainians. According to Zelensky, it is Germany among European countries that provides the greatest support to Ukraine.

– And after the increase this year, it will be within 9 billion euros. This is very tangible assistance, – noted Volodymyr Zelensky.
The president and the minister agreed that pressure on Russia must be increased to force it into peace talks. This requires tough sanctions against the energy and banking sectors, the shadow fleet of tankers, and a reduction in the maximum price of oil.
– We are taking appropriate measures. The 18th sanctions package is an example of this. We want to convince all European partners that this package is effective. And our American colleagues as well – so that the United States takes the necessary measures, – said Johann Wadephul.
Zelensky and Wadephul also discussed strengthening Ukrainian air defense and the fact that Germany is ready to do more. They discussed the possibility of supplying additional IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine, as well as financing the production of interceptor drones in Ukraine.

Also present at the meeting with Zelensky were the heads of five German defense companies.
The focus was on the discussion of Ukrainian-German weapons production.
“This is an important partnership for us. We will develop a corresponding military hub in Ukraine and elsewhere,” President Volodymyr Zelensky noted.
Also at the meeting with the German delegation, they discussed the negotiation process for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and the importance of our country’s membership in NATO.
