Mortar batteries constantly accompany and protect infantry. The military of one of the mortar units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about their working days.
The Ukrainian military said that they studied for mortarmen for a long time: they sorted out the types of weapons, types of ammunition – they prepared to the fullest. They even studied assault actions if they had to participate in shooting battles.

The commander of the mortar crew with the callsign Groot recalled one of the most successful “cases” in his work. This was when the Ukrainian mine clearly worked into the Russian dugout.
The guys have been waiting for this goal for a long time. Finally, we spotted a room with enemy personnel and calculated the system, and we covered this dugout,” he said.
The unit also has a grenade launcher with it. This is a senior grenade launcher driver with the call sign “Hedgehog”. The husband spoke about his task as follows: “I am here in case the enemy breaks through. If this happens, then everyone will go, I will stay and cover the departure of our guys.”
It should be noted that in his work he uses PSLR-1, a modified Soviet multiple launch rocket system RPG-7.
“Foreign mines are of high quality: they are stored in tubes, they can even be thrown into the water,” says the loader with the callsign Lis.
But the mines of the enemy are rusty, out of four shots one explodes, and three fall into the ground, he notes.
