The United States donated industrial 3D printers to Ukraine, which will provide the ability to produce any spare parts and components for equipment, and Ukrainian specialists themselves have already mastered this technology.
About this in a commentary to the Voice of America said Assistant Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Maintenance William LaPlant.
According to him, these 3D printers are capable of printing spare parts for equipment at the front, and the “printing machines” — the size of a truck.
Now they are watching
Ukraine received these technologies back in August, and last week Ukrainian specialists finally mastered this tool.
— You can do amazing things with 3D printing, not just because of the speed. You can actually make parts that you couldn't make under normal conditions, — stated William LaPlante.
In addition to spare parts, the publication showed a story where a 3D printer is able to print a bridge for a pedestrian crossing in just three days, when in order to build a similar structure it would have to take about a week and a half. Over time, this technology saves human resources and money.
The assistant to the head of the Pentagon says that after the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukrainians began to print 3D parts on their own, although this was not in the legislative field.
— You know what they say, when your country is under existential attack, intellectual property laws matter only a little. Therefore, we put things in order, together with other countries. They now have all the technical data packages — explained a Pentagon official.
In November last year, Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedoriv told how he came to the front where he had a conversation with generals, who urged him to find 3D printers to print spare parts.
