When the Russians occupied Mariupol, there was no water, electricity or gas in the city. Residents fled as best they could – melted the snow, slept dressed, and so on.
Natalia Gaetska spoke about this as part of the SVOI project on Channel 24. She managed to leave Mariupol with five cats and find temporary shelter in Lvov.
People melted the snow and cooked on the fire
Together with their family Natalia lived on the Left Bank for 2 weeks – from March 1 to March 15. Then it was very cold – the temperature in some places dropped to 10 degrees below zero. Apartments without gas and electricity quickly cooled down, so people warmed up as much as they could.
Then it was snowing, it was very cold. But snow helped some people, because people collected this snow, drowned it and drank it like water. In general, this is a very big problem for large cities when there is no water, – the woman recalls.
According to her, when centralized supplies stop, the city immediately finds itself in such a situation that there is simply nothing.
< p>“I was engaged in the fact that I fed my parents, went for firewood, talked with neighbors, met people whom I saw for the first time in my life. That is, I did everything in order to survive. We made one fire for the entire entrance, and in turn, they cooked something there. Twice a day,” added Natalia.
The woman summed up that subsequently the temperature in the room became closer to zero degrees. In order not to freeze, both she and her family slept fully clothed.
