Russian dictator Putin thinks Russia is winning the war against Ukraine. However, there is a high possibility that Russian generals continue to misinform the President of Russia, fearing a purge.

Russian generals promise victory before May 9

The Conflict Intelligence Team says there are problems in reports of Russian generals. In particular, they are afraid to repeat the fate of FSB Colonel General Sergei Beseda, who fell under Putin's purge.

Therefore, as the CIT report says, the generals report a temporary withdrawal from the Kiev and Chernihiv directions, “in order to concentrate all forces on Donbass for an early victory until May 9”.

In Russia, losses are underestimated

The analytical group writes that in the reports the generals probably underestimate the number of losses.

The latest figures we heard from the Russian Ministry of Defense were 1,351 dead. At the same time, on the afternoon of April 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the publication of a list of more than 30,000 irretrievable losses in Ukraine. – the CIT report says.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia’s losses in the war with Ukraine amount to more than 20 thousand military.

The CIT said that Russia is creating a picture that their losses in the war is much less than in Ukraine.
